International Female Ride Day® (IFRD) stands as a beacon for women riders worldwide, driven by a clear and resolute mission. Its foremost goal is to elevate the visibility of women in motorcycling, transcending geographical and cultural barriers. Through strategic initiatives and community engagement, IFRD aims to promote and highlight the enjoyment and participation of women in the sport on a global scale.

At the core of the IFRD mission is the mantra and call to action of “JUST RIDE!”. Through this ethos, IFRD seeks to not only inspire seasoned riders but also to ignite a passion for riding in those who have yet to explore this dynamic activity.

Each participant in IFRD serves as a tangible symbol of female empowerment and proficiency in motorcycling. By challenging stereotypes and advocating for gender parity, IFRD strives to create an inclusive environment where women riders can thrive and excel. The IFRD commitment to showcasing the diverse and multifaceted nature of women ridership underscores our dedication to reshaping perceptions and fostering a more inclusive riding community.

INTERNATIONAL FEMALE RIDE DAY GOALS

Annually commemorated on the first Saturday in May, International Female Ride Day® stands as a pivotal moment in the global riding community, serving to:

  1. Illuminate the remarkable presence of women riders, spotlighting their diverse contributions to the motorcycling world.
  2. Inspire and embolden women from all walks of life to embrace the exhilarating journey of motorcycling, motorsport and powersports – fostering a more inclusive and vibrant riding community.
  3. Advocate for gender equality in motorsports, amplifying awareness of the ongoing strides and challenges faced by women in this dynamic arena.
  4. Commemorate achievements, celebrate advancements and progress made by women in motorsports and powersports, celebrating their indelible impact on the industry.
  5. Ride in solidarity for accelerated gender parity, championing a future where opportunities and recognition are truly equitable for all riders, regardless of gender.

IFRD serves as a global movement uniting women motorcycle riders from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a singular goal: to shine a spotlight on the vibrant community of women who revel in the joy of riding. This inclusive campaign transcends brand affiliations, motorcycle types, and riding styles, inviting riders of all stripes to participate in the universal call to action: “JUST RIDE!”
Join in as we celebrate the spirit of camaraderie and adventure that knows no bounds, embracing riders from every corner of the globe on this momentous ride day.

“International Female Ride Day illuminates the prowess of women motorcyclists, inviting each rider to embody the essence of a role model for motorcycling, motorsports and powersports on this globally synchronised ride day. Through the unified action of “JUST RIDE!”, every participant contributes to the celebration of female ridership, inspiring others to join in the exhilarating journey”.

Vicki Gray

IFRD is a day dedicated to women motorcycle, scooter, and trike riders worldwide, encompassing women in all realms of powersports. This special day underscores the rich tapestry of female ridership, celebrating its diversity, agelessness, and boundless capabilities. From seasoned riders to newcomers, IFRD honours the sheer enjoyment and passion that women bring to the exhilarating activity of motorcycling, reaffirming the inclusive and empowering nature of the riding community.

International Female Ride Day® was founded and created upon four core guiding principles, steadfastly upheld each year to maintain the clarity of the campaign’s intentions.

INTERNATIONAL FEMALE RIDE DAY GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  1. FREEDOM:  Women motorcyclists, motorsport enthusiasts, and powersports aficionados are empowered to participate and savour the day in their preferred manner. They have the autonomy to interpret the mission of “JUST RIDE!” and integrate it into their personal motorcycling experiences. This inclusive approach welcomes women riders of all skill levels, ages, and riding styles to contribute to the global unification of women riders through the joy of motorcycling

  2. BRANDLESS.  IFRD is the brainchild of founder Vicki Gray, and its “for use” campaign is devoted to championing women and motorcycling. It is a celebration meant for all to enjoy. IFRD steadfastly rejects any attempts to restrict or exclude women motorcycle, motorsport, or powersports enthusiasts in any manner. It stands as a beacon of unity, refusing to be commandeered by any single motorcycle manufacturer, product, or country. Instead, it embraces all women riders, fostering a sense of inclusivity and solidarity within the motorcycling community. Industry stakeholders, individual rider groups, and clubs are warmly encouraged to join in this global celebration.

  3. ONE FIXED DATE:   IFRD takes place annually on the first Saturday of May. This steadfast date remains unchanged regardless of time zones, cultural differences, or climate variations. The strength of the global “JUST RIDE!” movement, now recognised as a significant women’s movement, stems from this unified action on a single day. It’s important to note that any event held outside of this worldwide ride day occurrence is not considered part of IFRD.

  4. OPEN GOOD WILL:  The essence of IFRD is rooted in the amplification of awareness for women in motorsports, rather than being driven by charity endeavours. While some events may choose to incorporate a charity partnership or emphasise a “good cause” alongside IFRD, this decision rests with individual event managers. However, it’s crucial to prioritise the core focus and essence of IFRD. If charitable actions are included, they should complement rather than overshadow the primary goals and main event of IFRD. Advancing the cause of women in motorsports remains a pivotal and ongoing endeavour deserving of our concerted efforts.

As you prepare to take to the roads on IFRD, let’s reflect on the unity, empowerment, and camaraderie that this global movement embodies. Together, we celebrate the diversity of women riders, shatter stereotypes, and champion gender equality in motorsports.
